All 3 rooms have had another lovely week here at Kirkley! Some activities we have completed this week have had a focus towards time travelling! We have researched into dinosaurs, freezing them in the water, completed Roman Mosaic pictures and also created our very own time capsules! As well as these, we have spent time enjoying the sunshine and completing many bug hunts in the garden, looking after as many ladybirds as we could possibly find! Have a lovely weekend everybody

This week the Hedgehogs, Squirrels and Owls have been very busy making bread rolls, cupcakes, fruit kebabs and pizza! We have been learning how to follow step by step instructions whilst focusing on developing our fine motor skills.

On behalf of all the Owl room we would like to say a big thank you for all our end of year gifts. We would also like to thank each and everyone of you who joined us for our graduation celebration on Friday. It was lovely to see you all and see all our Owl children receiving their certificates. It has been a wonderful year, and Katie, Louise, Leanne, and Liv are going to miss all our children moving up to big school. Have a wonderful Summer and for some of you, see you in September!

Over the past week, we have been making the most of our last full days together before some of our Hedgehogs finish for the summer holidays or move up to Squirrels! We have had lots of fun together, getting messy with our ice cream creation using shaving foam and sand, painting with the ducks, making music and singing along to many songs as well as exploring with the ice and making the most of the warm weather! From all of us in the Hedgehog room, we thank you all for a lovely academic year, we hope you have had the best time and have made some lovely memories! We wish you all a lovely summer!

As we wrap up another wonderful school year, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you for your incredible support, partnership, and involvement. Working together has made such a positive impact on our school community, and most importantly, on the lives of our amazing students. We hope you all enjoy a well-deserved, relaxing, and joyful summer break! We look forward to welcoming our students back on Wednesday, 3rd September, ready for another fantastic year of learning and growth.

It's been a lovely week in the Owl room. We have been doing lots of seaside themed activities including a tough tray, making crabs and a mermaid for our wall display. Outside the children have been looking at ladybirds being very gentle when they have had them landed on them. We also had a little baby bird that had to be rescued that the children got to have a close look at.

This week the Squirrels have been continuing exploring the story 'Way down deep in the deep blue sea' We have created jellyfish using paper plates, paint and glue, used sponges to decorate our shark and seahorse and explored ocean themed frozen jelly Next week is the last full week of term. We break up for the summer holidays on Tuesday 22nd July

This week, the Hedgehogs have continued looking at our Toddle Waddle story! We have implemented into our activities some of the animals we can find, specifically the ducks! We watched them zoom down the ramps, explored with them in the blue rice, representing the lake as well as looking at the variety of shapes/sizes of them all. We also froze some sea creatures and watched the ice melt in the sun as well as trying to break them free ourselves! The hedgehogs have enjoyed naming the animals as well as making the sounds and some of the hedgehogs have even started recognising the rhyming patterns seen in the story! What a lovely week hedgehogs

Pupil Parliament have been busy in assembly recently. They awarded their Green Certificates for caring for our community. Bow and Grace independently litter picked on our school field and Billie-Kate received hers for kindly picking up lots of paper towels which had somehow missed the bin. Finally, the whole school was awarded for all of their help in planting and watering the trees & bushes donated from the Woodland Trust. Miss Egler was given the certificate as she helped them to co-ordinate the planting, for which they were very grateful!

This week, Hedgehogs have continued looking at their story, 'Toddle Waddle! The Hedgehogs have enjoyed looking at the different pictures in this story, particularly the animals, naming and making the noises as they point. This week, we have made our own puff paint ice creams, developing our colour recognition and feeling the textures of the shaving foam. The Hedgehogs have also explored in their own beach set up that we made in the garden, digging in the sand, playing in the water and finding animals to place in the sand and water that we have seen in our story, as well as making our own ice cream shop, which the Hedgehogs thoroughly enjoyed! This week, some of our Hedgehogs have also completed some more transitions to the Squirrel room and they have all done so well, the feedback has been amazing! We are so proud of you all

This week the Squirrels have been exploring our new core text 'Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea'. We painted bubble wrap blue to make our sea for our display! We also mixed together shaving foam and blue food colouring to make our own version of the sea! Alongside the ocean theme, the Squirrels have been practicing brushing teeth using the giant teeth set! This week we had our final room transitions. All children settled fanatically into their new rooms and it has been amazing to see such happy faces

Moonbeam Theatre Performance: Once upon a Flowerbed This week, Moonbeam Theatre visited us, thanks to Emma Thorpe, Young People's Producer from Theatre Royal's summer 'Doorstep' project. They performed a multisensory show, Once upon a Flowerbed, for our students with Special Educational Needs and PMLD, providing them with opportunities to explore and discover in a playful and engaging atmosphere. The performance was flexible and tailored to each student's needs. The show was very relaxed, and the audience was given as much time as they needed to access the show. The actors were happy to extend their show to children who preferred not to sit in the circle but walk around or sit around the edges of the room. The students were free to explore their props and the musical instruments they were playing. The flute and clarinet were every popular amongst the students. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we are hoping they will visit us again next year! Thank you Moonbeam Theatre and Theatre Royal, Bury St. Edmunds for offering this amazing opportunity to our students.

This week, Hedgehogs have started reading our core text 'Toddle Waddle!' At the beginning of the week, we made some cloud-sand to represent our own ice cream! Hedgehogs were serving their ice creams using their hands and spoons to dish up into our cones. They have also been developing their number/colour skills by seeing who can make the tallest ice cream! Whilst counting the scoops as they did so and naming the colours. Some of our Hedgehogs have also had a busy week transitioning to their new room ahead of September which has gone fantastically! This week in the Owls we have started our new book "what the ladybird heard at the seaside?". The children had fun making ladybirds with red playdough and black cardboard dots to make the spots. They also made paper plate ladybirds which they painted and stuck spots on. They children have been practicing their fine motor skills using the tweezers to pick up the compare bears. And they have been constructing with the duplo, making gardens, towers and castles.

This week in the Squirrels room we have continued with our core text of Jack and the Beanstalk, the children have explored baked beans, used forks in green paint to create beanstalks and made cow masks using glue and tissue paper. They have also explored both colours and numbers through matching games and enjoyed the sunny weather. Also, some of our children have had their transitions to the Owls room and we also had some of the Hedgehogs join us , all the children had a wonderful time.

We are excited to announce the Riverwalk raffle tickets will be sent out in students school bags today! Please fill out the ticket stub and send it back to the school office in an envelope with the money, marked raffle tickets. You keep the main raffle ticket.
